Course of Nature

On “DamagedCourse of Nature successfully pulls off in 45 minutes what 3 Doors Down has been attempting to pull off their whole career, feel-good, hook-laden Rock music that soothes the soul. Think Alice in Chains meets Breaking Benjamin with a slight Southern Rock influence. More refined, and showing immense growth from 2002’s “Superlaka,” “Damaged” is one of the best albums to come out this year.

Like any great Rock album, “Damaged,” starts off with uber-rocker “Anger Cage” and breaks right into sensitive-rocker “Right Before My Eyes.” It took me 3 days to get past the first two songs, as I couldn’t keep from hitting the back button ad-nauseum.

Course of Nature – “Right Before My Eyes”

“Memory of You” is a dark and brooding power ballad about a past relationship gone wrong. “Another picture frame, broken and thrown away,” singer Mark Wilkerson croons on the song’s first verse, before breaking into the chorus.

“The Window” is a Lit-infuenced swing-metal song, that holds its own, and the following track, rock-rollercoaster, “Live Again” takes listeners on a ride.

“Gone” is another power ballad, and “How Great You Are” and “World At War” are two nu-metal bangers fit for any mosh-pit in Los Angeles.

“Forget Her,” the most unique song on the album reminisces of the early 00s when Emocore was popular. Nostalgia!
"Damaged" is a great album, and is a must-buy for anyone into Modern Rock, loud guitars, and singers that don't whine.
